To you, I am Emyloom, a sixty something lady living in the Pacific Northwest in the shadow of Mt Si. l am doing my utmost to live each day with joy and appreciation as if each one might be my last.
A southern born girl; who was always taught to been seen and not heard. Abused and molested, high school dropout, child bride and a mother at 15. More than this however, l am a survivor and have fought my way back from a rough start and I have worked out my journey through life. Now I am ready to be heard.
I wouldn’t claim to be a writer, but my mind is full thoughts and writing them down is a way to free up space. So if you stop by and connect with something written here, be blessed.
Awww Emyloom, I see we have much in common …! I too am a high-school drop out…I became pregnant at 16…married a ruthless man twice my age; (had my 4th child at 22)…my first birthday celebration was at age 30….(divorced & remarried at 35) ..I just reached Medicare age…! I wrote & published my memoir, “Running in Heels: A Memoir of Grit and Grace” 8 years ago. During book signings and attending Book Clubs, I have come to know that everyone has a story. So glad you are blogging about yours! Good meeting you,my friend.

Thank you! I follow several people that have a similar backgrounds. By time I reached my 60’s, I stopped running from and hiding my past because of the shame. I didn’t choose the childhood experiences I had that skewed my view of the world, love and relationships.
There should be no shame only recognition and self respect for being a survivor and overcomer. Everyday I am thankful for the life I have today.
You are amazing. Keep growing, keep sharing, keep encouraging.

I found your book and ordered a copy. I started following you a few months ago when I read the story about your memories of mom. I recognized as you have the parallel in our lives. God connects hearts. Blessed to have connected 🩷
