I Wish

I wish I had adequate words to explain my feelings here. I am so tired. Tired of the bickering, the hate, the assumptions, and the constant state of unrest.

I woke up this morning at 2:30 and I was hit by several posts that just set me on a path of wondering why we as a people are so polarized.

I find myself, more and more these days, being insulted by people who may not even know they are tramping on my beliefs and they do not really know what my beliefs are. They have only lumped me into a group of people that have nothing in common with me.

I have been confronted by people who believe that Christians and those who believe in the Bible are all bigoted/ignorant people.

In that group they throw in conservatives. It is possible, in this area, they believe these people are lower in intelligence, selfish and lack any compassion for their fellow man.

I would guess, and based on my personal knowledge, most conservative Christians are loving, compassionate, caring people who serve quietly in the background.

I also know Christians that are also liberals, and these people are loving, compassionate, caring people who serve quietly in the background.

Barring the extreme element on either side, I find that not all liberals are what they are painted to be and not all conservatives are either. Not all successful people are greedy and not all the poor are lazy.

Please stop categorizing people in groups and just reach out and get to know people for who they are and what they believe. Have discussions about differences with respectful speech and accepting hearts.

There is no person or group that I agree with completely. I have Christian friends that have vastly different views politically. When people call names to either group, they don’t realize they are lumping many friends into that characterization as well.

We as a nation have different views, we come from different cultures and backgrounds, our life experiences influence our perspectives.

When we stand “firmly right” on our side we leave no room to find the things we have in common that can bring us together. The respect for each others views has been lost in the political battleground to be right.

I sometimes do not have an open mind but I try to have an open heart. In that, I look for all the things I have in common with people, not the things that could divide us.

My political views are only a small part of who I am.

Along those lines, there is not one president, that I believe had all the right answers or did all the right things. However, I accept I have no control over these things.

In It says in the Bible that God appoints our leaders and he brings them down.
