Smile I heard my mother say when I was sad and blue,
A smile would make things better… but mommy, It is not possible without you.
You were there in my sunshine, you held me in the rain.
You carried my broken heart, until it was whole again.
You were the one that knew me, before my first breath or cry,
And now I am without you; without a kiss or goodbye.
Today I cannot breathe and I force my heart to beat,
How can I face tomorrow without your love so sweet?
Smile my mother would say, when life was hard and unfair,
But smiling was much easier when her smile was also there.
Mommy, I love you, with my heart completely shattered, will I ever smile once more?
Smile my mother said, “Yes, my child but it will be different than before.”
“You’ll smile when you remember, our quiet loving talks,
You’ll smile when you are walking on our favorite nature walks. “
“You’ll smile again when you remember the silly fun we had…
Please remember them joyfully and try to not let them make you sad. “
Smile I heard my mother say when the time of sorrow is no more,
“I’m always right beside you and will be here till your days are o’er. “
Smile my mother said, “For the truth is you see, your smiles brought me joy, your smiles eased my pain,
And it would break my heart sweet child of mine, if you never smiled again.”
